the BAA training plans follow the 1x workout, 1x long-run-workout model

they are some of the best serious marathon plans for motivated normal people that I've seen.

is there a fitness tracker bracelet that works with runkeeper/strave that doesn't require me to bring my phone on a run? (are they all like that)? is there one that can also play music?

i dont know about the fitbit style trackers (though i suspect they work without your phone for strava/runkeeper but not music), but any of the running watches from garmin, polar, suunto, etc all will track lots of info (GPS, heart rate, steps, elevation) without your phone. I mostly don't bring my phone but I use an ipod touch for music.

Has anyone gone from mid to toe-striking in their stride? I think I have, possibly because of this knee injury. Over the past few runs my calves have gotten really sore over just doing 30 minute runs. I guess its not a bad thing, but my calves have never been so tired.

I’m doing a 5K at the beginning of March. I’m slow as molasses and have been working up to it on and off for 2 years but it’s a start! I’ve never been able to run so this is huge for me.

Finally getting back to running. The Physio thinks the nerve that runs down the back of my leg is aggravated hence pain when I run. I think it's slowly working itself out... but I gotta confess coming back from a lil over a month off is hard. Back up to 30mi/wk though which isn't bad.

I only have a basic tomtom runner which does all those things except the music. This new one has music too. Although the reviews on amazon there aren't great so idk.

This seems like an odd, unnecessary watch. I suppose if you don't like exercising with your phone but still want music, it is a decent option, but I don't know anyone who fits into that category.

goals update: ran 5:00.2 mile (technically 1600m) at the track today. So close... but it means if I keep up any kind of consistent training, sub-5 for a full mile is in the bag later this year.

Also it was my 37th birthday so I’ll take it 8-)

humblebrag

do you use a particular plan for the sub-5?

humblebrag guilty as charged :)

no particular plan, just the "one threshold workout and one longer run a week" described on the last page, with some strides thrown in. I'm just trying to stay consistently above 30 miles a week and not get hurt, which has been harder than it sounds the last few years.

kid comes first so the consistency will be up and down for a while. My wife has been great about letting me sneak out for runs.

anyone try the maurten drink mix that was used for the sub 2:00 try?
I begrudgingly bought a single bottle hydration pack and probably going to buy a box of the 160 mix at the end of the month and give it a whirl

edit: awesome, The Feed sells the regular and pro mix as singles
