Let's talk Aguachile Alley

the bernie story was blown up by political reporters, who love nothing better than to do wink wink gotcha redbaiting. but the rationale given for the staff pay ("no one expected more than 40 hour weeks") seemed kinda flimsy -- it's a campaign, you're gonna work more than 40-hour weeks. if true that was an unforced and kinda shitty mistake.
that said, they remedied it, so it's not all that much of a story
but people who dislike bernie are gonna use it against him, that's just ... politics

We probably shouldn’t assume all politicians treat their staff like shit and having it be a baseline we shrug off
(Edit) this is about Williamson, not Bernie. Though it’s not wrong to hold a company like his campaign to task for exploring their workers’ time. That’s a huge thrust of his entire candidacy in fact! It’s good it got fixed and worked out by the union but it’s not wrong for the story to point out a flaw in the system that affected him. It sort of makes his case even further. If he can have a blind spot for the exploitation of labor, so can anyone. That’s how broken the system is

here's my impression of farmer: "oh dangit my sheep is lost!" or something, not sure what happens on a farm.

this is a good thing
this is what unions do? isn't it? i've only been in the IWW which is just a symbolic thing
do people just not know what unions are for
I mean, it kind of sounded over the weekend like Bernie was calling out his campaign union for negotiating a better deal (by going to the press about it).
my understanding was he was (kinda unnecessarily) calling out the individual who went to the press about it. or not really calling them out even but dismissing the reports that that there was some kind of crisis happening, when it was a concern that was being handled in negotiation with the union. like mushroom said the story got blown up and twitter has a tendency to flatten everything

"It does bother me that people are going outside of the process and going to the media," he said. "That is really not acceptable. It is really not what labor negotiations are about, and it's improper."
Sanders said, ahead of a weekend Iowa campaign swing: "We are disappointed that some individuals have decided to damage the integrity of these efforts. We are involved in negotiations. And some are individuals that have decided to damage the integrity of that process before they were concluded."
It's not just that it was unnecessary, this is a flatly bad way to frame the bounds of "acceptable" labor negotiating.

he dumped water on a cop's head. a cop was by definition on the scene for the incident. why did they have to seek him out later.

jost's posts aren't both sidesing because bernie saying what management says when a CBA negotiation is discussed publicly is still better than every other democratic campaign where employees aren't unionized and are absolutely overworked and underpaid, to the point that frontline workers are likely making far less than minimum wage
what bernie said was bad
what the other campaigns are doing is worse
