Let's talk Aguachile Alley

Let's get this out of the Leftovers thread...
https://variety.com/2017/tv/news/damon-lindelof-the-watchmen-hbo-1202473414/Looks like Damon Lindelof may be going back to work for HBO.
Fresh off the series finale of “The Leftovers,” Lindelof is in talks to develop an adaptation of the comic book series “Watchmen” to the cabler.
This will be HBO’s second attempt at developing a series based on the landmark DC Comics miniseries by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. The premium channel had kicked the tires on a “Watchmen” project in 2014. Lindelof’s take on the series would be starting over from scratch independent of that effort.
Premiering in 1985, “Watchmen” was a serious-minded deconstruction of superhero comics loosely inspired by characters from the Charlton Comics library, which were owned by DC. Set in a universe in which the appearance of costumed heroes in the mid-20th Century had altered the course of history — leading to U.S. victory in Vietnam and a Nixon presidency that stretched into the mid-1980s — “Watchmen” followed a group of crimefighters investigating the murder of one of their own. In the process, those characters — including Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, and Rorschach — uncover a conspiracy with enormous implications.
HBO declined to comment on the project.
“Watchmen” was adapted into a feature film produced by Warner Bros. and directed by Zach Snyder in 2009. No deal is yet in place for the HBO project, which we hear will be unrelated to that movie produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Lindelof is under an overall deal.

Is Watchmen that popular with geeks to fill the GOT void? I guess if they can make a hit out of Westworld.

Maybe this time they'll take the board's advice and make the story a commentary on superhero film franchises.

I'm open to the possibilities but it makes me sad that Scalped is getting a show on fucking WGN America and will probably be total shit.
Or that Lindelof couldn't have done, I dunno, Starman.

Oh God, what if his pitch was all about drawing parallels to Trump's America and he makes Rorschach an alt-right Pepe guy?

The movie probably elevated it in terms of popularity a bit. Surely it's as popular as GOT was before the series.

honestly, as someone who owns a bunch of the self-published Ditko zines… while it might be a departure from Moore's intentions with Rorschach, I would have to say this isn't much of a leap from the Mr A and The Question lineage of the character

agree.
at the best, we get a solid HBO'd version of this story. at the very worst we get our next True Detective S2
The answer is simple: artisanship.

FX. Michael Green jumped on American Gods as co-showrunner, so that took up a lot of his time.
