Played maybe 7 hours, not sure.
I took too long beat the shinobi hunter and then the dude after the chained ogre. The whole bloody grimness of the hirata estate is beautiful but it bums me out to be there. Too grim.

After I beat the guy after chained ogre I immediately did snake and horse guy in one without dying. I had to stop playing caus I was too pumped and had to calm down. It was great.Toggle Spoiler
Seems like finding shit to upgrade the prosthetic is going to be a pain in the ass.
Loving it a lot.

upgrades actually aren't that bad, it's just that the end-tier stuff you cant get til endgame. if you want to farm i believe you can, but i think most of us played through initially w/o really using the prosthetics

treat it like a bullfight. run away and face the bull, wait for it to charge, then deflect as it's bringing its horns up. this stuns it, you get some slashes in, repeat. if you do it right, it doesn't get to its second phase.Toggle Spoiler

oh damn, you can deflect? i love that there are a ton of MASSIVE attacks that look like they'd crush you but can be deflected.

basically, yeah, you use it as the attack is incoming, the attack doesn’t damage you and you get teleported away

also yeah you can deflect basically everything in this game that isn’t perilous

and with the great feathers upgrade you leave a trail of fire, so when you’re surrounded you pop it and dodge their attacks and then hit them with an explosion of flames

yeah that's a very fun one. 2 -> 3 is a rough emblem cost jump! dumb part of good game

christ,I feel like I've got pretty deep into this game but that spear prick on the hill was a nagging reminder of my incompetence

and then last night totally fucking beat that speary fucker :D

I can now execute the Mikiri Counter with extreme prejudice !

seriously the trickiest thing about Sekiro is getting to grips with defence being another form of attack

that giraffe monster and armored warrior taken out no problem :P

long armed centipede giraffe was so delightful. perfectly creepy and left field. and having that experience of a ton of consecutive parries at the point in the game where you’re starting to get them down

took me like 40 tries to kill this guy because i didnt understand deflection. really, it took basically my whole first play through to finally understand how that shit works. second playthrough was much easier because of this. the game wants you to be super aggressive and stay aggressive, which is a fun way to design a game!

anyway im about to finish my shura run through and then i think im done with this game until DLC!

I've been reading Tezuka's manga Phoenix and just got to the volume about a one-armed scoundrel who attempts to find peace after a violent past by carving Buddhas, which always come out looking angry...

welcome to the jam

something useful about that guy’s arena: you don’t have to kill any other enemies whatsoever between attempts if you use the tree branch off to the right (when you’re facing the tower) to get to him. i think people get caught up in clearing the zone out and it makes them tilt way faster because every death represents another 5 minutes of boring clearing or whatever. you can just zip straight to him

maybe you already knew but i think a lotta people miss it

yeah, fighting him on the stairs is a bad idea. the height changes can make things awkward. pulling him around to the side of the tower is the good stuff

if you want an easy way to beat seven spears dude, use this advice from nocents. worked for me on first try

carrion wrote:I've been playing daily since release and am still stuck on lady b and seven spears. Should I just try to head into the castle? I also could go to the temple. Idk, I love this game but am starting to get a bit frustrated. I need to git gud as they say.

I was stuck on seven spears for a bit, but then just did this and one-shot him: for the first half of his life, obviously sneak in through the back entrance of the house and then back stab him; right before you back stab him, take the sugar that reduces your vitality damage; after the back stab, just repeatedly attack with R1 R1 Axe. I had to use maybe....3 gourds?...before I racked up his posture damage enough to finish him. Hope that helps!

For lady b, I was stuck on her second phase for a while. But then I just started to take it all as quickly as possible by constantly attacking/parrying, rather than going for chip damage. It worked! I think I had 5 gourd uses at the time.
