at this point i’m a pretty devoted listener of the frow show and the avant ghetto. i also listen to brian turner and music of mind control, now and then. all downloaded from the archive with the app which, while it has its problems, is pretty solid. anyone else have go-to shows? i’m looking for stuff to branch out with

My Castle of Quiet was one of my favorite metal/noise shows on the planet. WM Turner passed away last year though :( Archives are great, especially the in-studio shows.

Andy Ortman's The Eternal Now on the webstream is great too, experimental noise psych etc.

Faves are Garbage Time and This is the Modern World. For non-music, Miracle Nutrition with Hearty White is wonderful.

met him at a WFMU event at El Cortez and was amazed that he was just a chill 30-year-old Jersey dude and not some background actor from the Drew Carey Show.

Yeah, Sophisticated Boom Boom is as good as it gets, can't recommend it enough.

Nickle & Dime, Inflatable Squirrel Carcass, and Irene Trudel's show are all pretty consistent, depending on your taste. I typically like Mary Wing and Therese too, but I don't think either has a recurring slot on the current schedule.

wake n bake is like. it's like someone came up with the formula for the most inoffensive, emotionally fulfilling radio content for the morning.

I used to listen a lot more when I worked a job where I had to commute. Listening to "Shut Up, Weirdo" or "Dr. Gameshow" on my drive home was the best way to end a day.

I still tune in for Garbage Time and Modern World when I can.

it's baffling that WFMU canceled Dr. Gameshow. It was so, so, so good (I haven't listened to the earwolf version yet)

They got canceled off of Earwolf too, they're on MaxFun now. It's such a good show, I really hope they've found a permanent home for it.

Switching from WNYC to Wake and Bake has improved my mornings enormously. Marginally obscure rock music + completely earnest and funny air checks. Can't ask for more
