Suzanne Vega - "Luka"

Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining

You're all fakes

you all knew that suzanne vega's "tom's diner" was the recording they used to calibrate mp3 compression. but did you know that she thought it sounded bad? the engineers ignored her! also, did you know that the diner she wrote the song about is the same diner in washington heights that they used for all the exterior shots of the diner in "seinfeld"? people have told me this is not true but i choose to believe it

on this subject, I always thought this Lush song was particularly striking as a second song on an album, the discrepancy between the relatively cheery feel and the lyrics about child abuse

Vega is kind of underrated, lots of good tracks on her first 2 albums. Luka and Tom's Diner on the other hand have been played to death by radio stations here

Solitude Standing was a dark, spooky record for 8 year old me in 1987.

I consider Tracy, Suzanne, Sinead, Mary Margaret O'Hara as all being part of a group of artists writing folk music in the late 80s through a feminist lens.

that actually is true, things got to the point where she had to write an essay in the new york times about all the Tom's Diner lore
