It's interesting that so many of these kinds of albums have been cropping up in recent years from older indie folks. Mt eerie, sun kil moon, sufjan to an extent. I'm not sure what it means. I guess getting older just kinda sucks for people of a certain artistic persuasion. Doesn't really matter tho this album is great and I'm glad I gave it a shot even tho I never really got into his older stuff.

The Natural Bridge through Bright Flight is the sweet spot for me.

this record feels like the spiritual sequel to The Natural Bridge to me, so just keep going

Worried I’m going to burn myself out on this record with the amount of replays I’ve been doing. May need to take a step back.

been interesting to dip into early Joos material and then come back to this.

the musicality on display on Purple Mountains is so well-executed; the Woods dudes did a great job. to me, these feel so much more like Song songs than a lot of earlier Joos material, as well-written as it often is.
Bright Flight, in particular, was striking me as a case where the country arrangements just kind of sit behind Berman's words ... i dunno, i can't quite put my finger on it. this also probably has to do with the comparative economy of the writing on the PM material.

when i'm not listening to it the songs are stuck in my head, so there's nothing I can do to combat burnout..

I loved being my mother's son...
I loved her so because
She was so kind and genuine
