They're both great neighborhoods, LS is a sprawling hipster neighborhood, Pilsen is a smaller area thats a stronghold in the mexican artists community thats grappling with rapid gentrification. Will you have a car with you? Pilsen puts you closer to downtown and near other cool neighborhoods (Chinatown, Greektown, Bronzeville, Bridgeport). Both have great food options.

I don't know about Pilsen as much even though I work there but in Logan where I live it is acceptable and common to bring your 3 year old to any bar or brunch (at least I do)

its not "hip", but La Catedral is a short drive away in Little Village. like a dozen different varieties of chilaquiles, cafe de olla, the works. about as authentic as it gets. gets slammed on weekends.

man, once they turned that churchs chicken into a la michoacana with a drive through it was all over for my family. always the friday treat after picking up everyone from work and school. best ice cream in the city.
