Same. I thought this was so funny but a lot of ppl didn’t seem ready for it in the theater which seemed really weird. They caught up to the film tho

the blurry .jpg of vision and the getty images candles

Both in this and the first movie they get the absurdist internet meme/gen z humor very well and it really works

I think Kraven would be an ideal villain for part 3 now that general public presumably hates Spider-Man. They could introduce a corporate level villain like Osborne who hires Kraven to hunt Spidey down.

edit: jon watts knows whats up

https://theplaylist.net/spider-man-far-from-home-jon-watts-interview-20190702/
If you had a carte blanche choice of villain, Norman Osborne, the Sinister Six, whomever… who are your favorite Spider-Man villains?
I mean, Kraven’s pretty great and coming up with a take on Kraven would be a fun challenge, but you know, to me it’s all about trying to show people things that they haven’t seen before, so I would dig back in and started reading the comics from issue #1 again.

I think re: the public hating spider man, it would be resolved fairly quickly right? Part of the tension when movies have played things this way is that it’s hard to address this without breaking your secret identity. Now everyone knows everything so I imagine Peter Parker could largely explain it. Plus with the whole EDITH thing I’m sure there could be counter evidence.

i dont think i liked it either, but i guess we’ll see in future movies.

were there arcs like that in the comics where it had to played off as a hoax?

it sort of mirrors the surprise at the end of the first one where Aunt May sees that he's Spidey and it's a huge deal because he thought she would freak out (and she probably did) but in this one she's cool with it.

id been fine if this cliffhanger was total misdirection and and then in the next one it's just resolved and totally forgotten within five minutes by having ben mendehlson be peter while spidey does his thing

it'd be thematically pretty fitting if the internet spends two years theorizing in vain

making it the bugle info wars is also pretty loaded in terms of how credible the “reveal” is supposed to be with the general public. i like the talos idea, now that we’ve opened that toychest and fury is in on it.

i guess but even within that, the info wars thing is a choice. like they didnt just have the bugle reveal him, they had info wars carrying water for the smoke and mirrors performer engineering crises to become a hero.

it's also about deception and illusion

it could even be like a p fun sitcommy running gag throughout the whole film, talos has to keep covering for peter at school while having no idea how to act like a normal teenager etc

This was great. Loved the big illusion sequence.

The high school comedy stuff was good, but I don’t think I loved it as much as others here.

The effects had an obvious, legit reason to look like “cgi goop”. All of the action in this was a big step from Homecoming, but I don’t think I liked the character stuff as much. On the whole it’s hard to say which movie I like more, but both are great.

The whole InfoWars and Skrulls as refugees scenario has me thinking that Secret Invasion should essentially be a hoax designed to propel Norman Osborn into power.
