Mattachioni on Dupont do sourdough sandwiches and pizza but the best shit is these awesome salads full of bread, eggplant one is incredible.
Descendent in Leslieville has "Detroit style" pizza, it used to be stupid busy all the time and maybe still is but it's really good.
Bitondo's in Little Italy for cheese panzerottos.
Ghandi roti or Mother India

The best regional food or whatever is in the suburbs like Richmond Hill / Markham/ Scarborough, if you have a car or get access to one it is important to go to some. You can do this on public transit too especially for Scarborough places but it will be a long haul. Local scrump mags or newspaper sections often publish a profile of a fancy chef or food writer where they visit favourite more unassuming places, e.g.

OK cool, I generally do 20% but I noticed prices seem pretty high at a lot of restaurants, wasn't sure if tip was factored in.

https://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2018/07/26/ford-to-slash-toronto-city-council-to-25-councillors-from-47-sources-say.html

Premier Doug Ford is slashing the size of Toronto city council almost in half before the October election, the Star has learned.

In a stunning development, Ford is also cancelling planned regional chair elections in Peel and York, thwarting the ambitions of his political foe Patrick Brown, the former Progressive Conservative leader, as well as those of former Liberal cabinet minister Steven Del Duca.

The overhaul of wards will wipe out a 2016 decision by Toronto council to redraw the city’s boundaries, which increased the number of wards to 47 from 44 for the 2018 election. That was the result of a four-year review that determined the increase was essential for effective representation.

I think t would have been better if he got elected mayor. It's all he wants to do anyway get rid of bike lanes and street level transit and now he's become premier to do it.
