Everything But the Girl: New Single Out! New Album 4/21

Let's talk Aguachile Alley

Postby Ersaph » Tue Oct 08, 2013 8:46 am

Especially their earlier albums--everything pre-Walking Wounded. I got into them skeptically, as for a long time "Missing" had been their only song that I'd heard, and I always associated it was car adverts (not a bad thing, but still). Come to find out that everything pre-that sounds a lot more like Scritti Politti and Prefab Sprout. They're probably the act I've gotten into most this year. Any fans?
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

there was this thread a little while back where boarders posted their 100 favorite songs each and i ended up listening to all of them and came across a bunch of stuff i'd never heard before. but somehow this was the one band that exercise really turned me on to

i think rentboy posted fascination and someone else posted rollercoaster, which are both so good

Yeah, the Ben Watt solo record is really nice, though I like the record Tracey Thorn did between Marine Girls and EBTG even more.

Walking wounded is a great album tho

"I'm sleeping later and waking later
I'm eating less and drinking more
And how am I without you?
Am I more myself or less myself?
I feel younger, louder
Like I don't always connect
Like I don't ever connect"

yeah protection is surprisingly on like the deserts miss the rain, which is the comp i'm listening to

protection is still my favorite massive attack record.

and yeah protection and amplified heart would probably both make my favorite 20 or so records

and speaking of rentboy and slsk - why is that sweet ecstasy feeling the thing most often downloaded from me?

i could understand a track or two, but somehow people are always grabbing the entire thing

The Paris Match

I actually like the Weller-sung version from the first Style Council EP more; got a little more life to it

on a big Temperamental kick recently.

i've always rode pretty hard for their last three albums. the 80s stuff sort of just seems like something i could find better on a Sade album - nice enough in its own right though

Agree that 'Missing' sort of put me of because it was so relentlessly played
