I love Sade and I love EBTG but Sade and EBTG come from very different places

Sade comes the jazzy side of soulwith lots of latin/Caribbean/african influense
and EBTG is the swing-ish side of white bread folk pop
I guess on a cursory listen it's like "hey the sound like smooth jazz with saxophones and a woman singing"
but that's like saying salsa roja and marinara are the same because they both have tomatoes and garlic

Love every iteration of this band from their C86ish beginning to the 90s, electronic tinged version of this band. So many great songs and definitely underrated.

i sincerely don't think i saw this post before i made my own post calling it "old people music"

which was an inside joke that me my aunt and her girlfriend had made (when i came out as a queer in like, 1999) about "90s lesbian Subaru contemporary"

You guys all rule cause Everything but the girl is extremely underrated. Ben watt was great the other year when I saw him perform solo. I'm curious why they don't reform the band.

I went back and read Pitchfork's EBTG reviews which were horrible. They even tranched Idlewild which is my favorite
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

i checkout out the one for amplified heart and the reviwer considers "We Walk The Same Line" to be one of "the second half’s few failings" (of the album) so i suppose i am to conclude that this person shouldnt be reviweing this type of music
