no you're right

both mikkeller and evil twin suck but mikeller more so

mikkeller sd is entirely different and better than other mikkeller brews. at least with the hoppy stuff. that alpine mikkeller sd colab rye ipa was world class. pretty much OG alpine nelson in a can.

yep

evil twin has been making good IPA's lately too, weirdly enough

Devil’s Triangle? That beer was fantastic.

gonna strong disagree here. mikeller was better, even before their NA spot. then when it did open, mikeller SD >> evil twin. we'll see how mikeller east coast affects things.

mikkeller's NA stuff has proved to me that their problem has been freshness/price when it comes to hoppy beers. they brought both down by being local-ish. evil twin still gets my gripes for flooding stores with so much shitty random beers when they should have dialed in a handful. made it very hard to trust them and why I still don't. Torst is a good bar, but ET is never the best stuff on, and if it is, that's a bad night at Torst.

3F is the coolest place to drink. Bottle selection is just insane and if the weathers nice you can just chill on the grass drinking incredible beer.

Was there a couple of weeks ago - best thing I had was 2012 Vintage Gueze. Schaarbeekse Kriek came close. Some older stuff looks great but outside my price range.

Cantillon is awesome but much more touristy. Got to drink St Lamvinus which was 8-) 8-) 8-)

Had it at the cloudwater tap at the weekend. Very tasty.

Wish they would get their non-hoppy beers in the same league. Not sure any of their sours have been good. Some of the imp stouts are decent

yeah I've never been particularly impressed by cloudwater outside of the hoppy stuff. I've been p unimpressed by most of their beers so far this year but their recent low abv and ddh beers pulled me back in. enjoyed v3.1 too.

They need a solid core range! Most of their beers taste so similar so why not perfect a few and keep putting out specials along side

yeah I think the whole 'seasonal' beer thing worked initially but it's seemingly just turned into them pumping out sub-par sours/stouts/helles/ipl's book-ended by some very good mid-abv ipa's and dipa's

They just have very good marketing and a few exceptional beers. Pretty sure everyone in Manchester thinks the main cloudwater dude is a knob.

I really like Chorlton brewery. Track too. Some really decent Manchester beer about.

Where are you from?

yeah chorlton are a perennial fave. real good bretted ipa's.

I'm from birmingham but I've spent a lot of time in newcastle so I'm familiar with a lot of the pubs/breweries up there. wylam are doing great things imo.

at the minute burning soul and glass house are pumping out decent beers in brum. feels like we're slowly catching up with the rest of the country.

A bit disappointed with the new HPB coconut hazy, probably because of how much I loved Hyperload. I guess the green tea did a lot more for that beer than I realized.

Outside In is pretty good, I’ll probably let the cans sit for a few weeks.

I would say this of pils generally this time of year.

Also, started seeing schlenkerla helles in tallboy 4pks at my local bottle shop, apparently canned stateside.

Had some of the Schlenkerla Helles last weekend. Even though no smoked malts are used, there’s still a pretty strong rauchcbier character. Still really refreshing, but not as clean as I usually prefer for a helles

the new modern times helles from portland is $12 a four pack. still a bit spendy, but considering how much other modern times special releases tend to cost, i can live with that and still be excited to try the beer.

I would love to find it on draft; finding fresh bottles around here is rare, but it barely matters. I've picked up sixers that had been on shelves for 6 months and it still tastes amazing.

but how much is it? always thought one of the best parts of alchemist was the pricing. bought a mixed case for $75 when i went there. doubt anything is being sold in LA at the $3 a can price point.
