check out the boxset for the betrayl at calth. you get some sweet figures and much easier game play than a full blown skirmish. when we play its honestly like 1/1.5 hrs set up for a normal battle. But betrayl had us set up and playing in like 30mins.

it only occured to me like a week ago how busy Games Workshop had been in the past few years at licencing their warhammer franchise for video games. I think there were at least a dozen Warhammer games in the like 300 top sellers on steam. And it's not stopping. Just this year there's Total War: Warhammer (a bit awkward to say, shorten it to total warhammer), Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr and Man O’ War: Corsair (the most interesting looking of the bunch to me) coming. I guess they figured it's really where the money is now. I tried Mordheim (the video game) about a week back but found it to not be my thing.
Not really on point with this thread i realise, carry on.
I must insist on being a pessimist, I'm a loner in a catastrophic mind

i fuckin love that world eater pic. the total disregard for anatomy, the frankly ludicrous number of skulls, his stubby arms and tiny little head

do you think warhammer guys track and remember their skull collections? like could that dude be "Ahh yesss, this is the skull of Captain Aphex of the Salamanders 3rd Company. I slayed him via axe on Phnegria Prime and drank celebration soup from his hollow head before chaining it to my standard"
or is any regular ol skull totally fine for decoration. And then you get some rookie upstaging his bosses' curated skull necklaces by just grabbing every shitty civilian skull he can lay hands on and making a really inauthentic skull piece

theres gotta be some strained silences as everyone sorta twiddles their thumbs while the boss waddles around collecting his stupid skulls. keep in mind that this dude physically cant bend over, or bring his hands close to one another, and that manipulating things close to his chest will involve lots of squinting through his grill / tusk assembly. ofc nobody can say anything if they like keeping their skulls on the inside
but yeah some dude is just going ham blinging himself out with like random space office clerk skulls trying to suck up to the boss and everyone is just for fucks sake bob how tacky can you get

I am attempting to imagine a Curb Your Enthusiasm style show with a couple of quirky Space Marine foot soldiers set in the Warhammer universe

Imperial Assassins were some of the coolest models. Them and Harlequins.

Were there ever rules for exodites? I kind of like that their take on Space Wood Elves was "Well I guess they'd be dino-riders."

This sounds like a really great way to get your own skull taken by the boss. Rule #1 of being a low level chaos marine is keep your fucking head down and pray that your superiors never notice you or have any reason to single you out as an individual. Random blessing of the gods notwithstanding, your only happiness is going to be mowing down randoms on the battlefield and hoping Archmagus Slud never feels threatened by your skills

I wish Tzeentch and Slaanesh in general got as much support as Khorne and Nurgle. It's hard to even find pics of the awesome old Noise Marine models. There was a really really cool 2E squad that I cannot find any shots of. And I think the Thousand Sons forbidden knowledge sorcerer god stuff worked better with the bullshit Egyptian iconography than the Necrons did.

seriously! Tzeentch and Slaanesh were my favorite. I guess the Dark Eldar got most of Slaanesh's attention, but as far as Chaos chapters, I always thought the Thousand Sons and other Tzeench aligned chapters were the coolest. loved the sorcerer lore stuff.
the universe definitely has room for an army of neo-undead automatons, but giving the Necrons the whole Egyptian aesthetic never made sense to me. god, those floating pyramids things
what you guys think of the new Adeptus Mechanicus units?
